Do you have those days where you just want to crawl into a cave and not talk to anyone? Or the days where you are sociable, quick witted and full of energy?
.
If you struggle with a roller coaster ride of emotions and don’t know how to work with yourself to establish some sort of normalcy, you’re not alone. Many women feel like a victim to their emotions and their body, not knowing what the next day is going to bring.
.
The good news is that it doesn’t have to be that way. You can figure out which days you will be more prone to sadness and what days you are more likely to be optimistic and clear headed.
.
Our bodies follow a certain rhythm or pattern every month, all we have to do is pay attention. Here’s what you can do: download a calendar like this. Every day, write your mood and emotions down, also take note how you feel physically. Are you tired, lazy, pessimistic, excitable, dreamy, etc? Don’t worry about forming sentences; just write down a few words that describe how you feel. Then take out your crayons or colored pencils and assign that day a color that best depicts your mood for that day. This shouldn’t take up more than 5 minutes of your day. You can also keep adding to it throughout the day, as you experience different emotions.
.
Do this simple exercise every day. After a couple months, see what your pattern is. Are the first few days of the month the most creative time for you? While the middle of the month leaves you feeling lazy?
.
Once you’ve done this for a few months and can really see your patterns, you have a powerful tool in your possession. Knowing the days you’re going to be bitchy doesn’t stop that from happening, however, it makes you aware that this is coming up. Perhaps you shouldn’t plan that big meeting or get together during a time where you usually feel like hiding in bed in the fetal position. Sure, there are some events that we can not rearrange, but you will notice that many things in your life you can scoot here or there so you are better able to handle them. Just do your best to listen to your body’s signals and respond to them in some way. On your lazy days, take a nap at lunch, or make sure to not make any after work plans. If you’re a stay at home momma, keep things simple on those low energy days, let your little one run around at the park, or in the backyard; don’t plan any major play dates or outings during that time.

I am a full time Momma to a 10 year old and a 1 year old, along with running a home business, so I understand the demands on our time. Its amazing how much easier things are to handle when I pay attention to my body’s rhythms. I am a better mother, wife and business owner, without a doubt!
.
If you are curious how your body’s rhythms coincide with the cycles of the moon, do the same thing on a calendar that shows the moon phases, like this. It’s very interesting to see that many of us are more creative and start new projects during a waxing moon and more reflective and quiet during the waning moon. See how your body cycles sync with the moons cycles.

Try this out; you will love the connection and wisdom you develop with yourself. Let me know how it goes.
