I think this is going to turn into more of a plea for help more than my usual blog post… I hope you don’t mind.

I am so fortunate on many levels; one being that both my husband and I get to work from home and care for our son. I know that because of this, I really have no room to whine or complain, so I will try to refrain from that and simply ask a question to all of you who are in similar situations…how do you get anything done?

I love checklists and organization, I thrive off of it. However I feel there is also a part of me that likes to be spontaneous and go out for breakfast or to the park with my husband and son here and there. My husband and I don’t have any clear hours to work; we just fit it in when we can. This works for my hubby, he can adapt to anything, but I feel like I never get a thing done and this kills me!

This is what I need time for: I need to have time to build up the number of Midwives who buy birth kits from us, since that is our main income, I need time to write blogs and work on my book, I need time to reply to emails, I need time for yoga and meditation, and I occasionally need time to encapsulate a placenta.
.
We hired a babysitter, but she can usually only come around 2 or 3 in the afternoon, not really when I want to start working, since that’s also the time my daughter gets out of school – not to mention I’m SO tired by then. The other factor is that my son LOVES me! This isn’t a problem, but if he sees me, he wants me, or more specifically he wants my breasts.
I know it seems like I should be able to just plan 2 hours or so in the morning to work, but for some reason, this rarely works for me. Why?! Am I sabotaging myself or something? I have all of these grand book ideas, but can’t really get going on them because I have 2 million other things to catch up on too (that’s just an estimate).
.
I would LOVE any advice people out there can give me. Also, do you think planning a specific time every day is best? Or do I be more flexible and hope that works? What do you do? My husband is more than happy to help in any way; he just needs me to tell him what I need.
.
Thanks in advance for any advice you send my way. I will be more productive in 2011, I promise myself that.
