- Be present. Be in the moment. Make sure that you don’t spend most of your day planning for the future or stuck in thoughts from the past..

2. Get outside. Being outside can raise your spirits dramatically. Even on those lazy days, take a little walk outside.
.
3. Drink water. I’ve noticed that on the days I don’t pay attention to my water intake I am more moody and usually have a headache. This is something so easy that can make such a big difference in your day. Stay hydrated.
.
4. Don’t forget to say I love you. Are you one of those people that just don’t express themselves “that way”? Well, it’s not too late to change that. Make sure the ones you love hear it from you as often as possible. Don’t just assume that they know.
.
5. Take a nap.
.
6. Indulge. What do you love to do to pamper yourself? Pick something small to do for YOU everyday. Maybe that means an extra couple minutes in the nice warm shower or 10 minutes to yourself to read. Whatever it is, take some time for you, because if you don’t take care of you, then you can’t effectively care for anyone else!
.
7. Laugh. Laughter boosts the immune system, releases endorphins, protects the heart and relieves stress for up to 45 minutes afterwards. You can’t beat that.
.
8. Make sure you get some media free time; this means no phone, computer or TV. Try it, its liberating!
.
9. Help someone. Don’t worry, this doesn’t have to be a big deal…sometimes the easiest gestures make the biggest difference. Open the door for someone, help the little old lady across the street, or maybe even call someone who’s missing your voice.
.
10. Have fun and enjoy your day. Don’t forget that life is precious, its cliché, but true. I’m sure you can all remember when this became startlingly clear for you. For me I have 2 dates, May 28th, 2005 when my husband almost died in a helicopter crash and July 4th 2007, when I was woken up by a phone call from my step mother telling me my father just suffered a massive stroke. Those days taught me to never take a day for granted; you really just never know what’s going to happen. I try not to waste my days anymore (of course, I still have my lazy days). I try to have fun with life, I enjoy every day that’s given to me with those I love.
